The Shrieks From Below The River were hyped as the next big thing in doom a few years ago, but never quite scaled the heights predicted. I bought 'Drawing Down the Sun' but it didn't move me too much. Maybe because I became heavily into Funeral doom, or maybe I was narrow minded about female vocals. The album popped up on my iPod and I found myself being prompted to try their Bandcamp page, hence this purchase. It's slightly different from previous releases largely due to the absence of Vicky on vocals. Post- Doom ??

The best are sometimes ignored, despite how close they are. The worst are sometimes there for all to see. This one, given time, will hopefully write itself...

Adding the battery gave life to the monolith whilst the soothing tones of the voice healed the wounds from the bludgeon. The rain outside only added to the mantra being played in the early summer evening and the shadows that danced were in perfect step... ... more
